I don't want to brag, but I'm lucky to have a good relationship with my parents. I can go to them to talk about anything, and they are willing to offer help. I'll admit the way I communicate with my mom and dad over text messages is very different. My mom and I text basically every day, and she always sends me lots of pictures of their doggies. I could scroll back forever with the texts I've exchanged with my mom. My dad is a different story. We're utilitarian texters to each other. He sends me New York Times articles; I ask him what the Disney+ password is. It works for us! Unfortunately, not everybody can talk so openly with their parents, in real life or over text messages. Sometimes, the only place where somebody can share their horrible interactions with their parents is in the hallowed halls of Reddit dot com, and these are some of this week's worst offenders.
