One of my favorite things about the Midwest is that it doesn't usually concern itself with trends. On the coasts, you always feel like you must be dressed to the nines in the latest fashions, which are always somehow just out of reach. In the Midwest, everyone will be happy if you pull up in jeans and a t-shirt. I swear, every Midwestern dad has the same fashion sense (aka polo, khakis, and some sort of sensible loafer). There's no pressure to keep up, and the style is simple. There's nothing wrong with simple. It lets you focus on the more important things, aka deciding which kind of cheddar you're going to put on your cheese board, or playing a game of bags with the neighborhood guys.
