The play She Kills Monsters (made famous by high schools the world over), is a piece of Dungeons and Dragons-inspired media that should not go overlooked. It follows a girl, who after the tragic loss of her sister Tilly, plays her late sister's original DnD module to try to better understand her. Tilly's campaign draws a lot of parallels between her real life, where she felt overlooked and neglected, and the fantasy world she made up. In her fantasy world, she can fulfill all her wishes, be an epic hero, and get the girl.
It's a thematically rich and fun play full of heart and believability. It's also a wonderful representation of Dungeons and Dragons (you get to see it acted out in full regalia, which is deliciously fun). Any DnD head would surely see themselves in it, or at least find it fun to see their hobby onstage. Though these memes will do the trick sans the price of admission.
