Money has a terrible habit of souring all kinds of relationships, even with those who are supposed to be the closest to us. Some people just can't see past the dollar signs, or even worse, want to use our access to money as a means of power and control. The sad reality of the society that we live in today is that we are only as strong as the amount that we have sitting in our bank account.
One teenager recently found this out the hard way after losing all their savings. It wasn't that the eighteen-year-old had been irresponsible, but rather that their parents had drained the hard-earned cash from their account and claimed that they needed it for rent. Understandably, the internet was horrified by this story of blatantly illegal activity. They might be saying they want this kid to move out, but it looks more like they want to make sure that they never leave.
