Elden Ring's highly anticipated expansion Shadow of the Erdtree is finally almost here, and developer FromSoftware has confirmed when exactly players around the world can jump in.
A FromSoftware post on X/Twitter revealed the release times, so those with the game preloaded can be sitting ready at their systems in anticipation. There are a few caveats to accessing the downloadable content, however, but we'll explain all of those here.
Preloading is now available for Shadow of the Erdtree, meaning those who've already purchased it digitally can download it so it's ready in time for launch. Those who've done so can access the DLC at the following times.
As for actually playing the DLC, players should use the final few hours before its launch to make sure they're caught up and ready to go. Two bosses must be defeated before Shadow of the Erdtree can be accessed, even if you've already paid hard cash for it. One of them is optional too, meaning you may not have it ticked off even if you've finished the base game.
IGN's guide on how to prepare for the Shadow of Erdtree is fully up to date with everything you need, however, and make sure to check out our Elden Ring interactive map to ensure you're not missing any important collectibles.
You can also catch up on IGN's "How Long to Beat" for Shadow of the Erdtree and kill some time ahead of its imminent release by reading our extensive 10/10 review.
"Like the base game did before it, Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree raises the bar for single player expansions," we said. "It takes everything that made the base game such a landmark RPG, condenses it into a relatively compact 20-25 hour campaign, and provides fantastic new challenges for heavily invested fans to chew on."
