What is Lalabet? This was the headline of Tubantia this week after it searched Google Trends for the most popular search terms of 2024 in the province of Overijssel. The illegal online casino Lalabet was among the most increased search terms of this calendar year. In Overijssel, the illegal gambling site was in 9th place of the biggest climbers with 800% more searches in 2024.
At the end of 2023, the Keurmerk Verantwoorde Affiliates already published a study on Dutch search traffic for illegal gambling sites. This showed that Dutch people searched 543,000 times per month for online casinos without a Dutch license. Following the Tubantia article, CasinoNieuws.nl went looking for search trends in the Netherlands for 2024 and it seems that search traffic for illegal online casinos has not decreased.

In addition to Overijssel, Lalabet was also found among the fastest rising search queries in North Holland. In North Holland, this search traffic increased by 600%. However, the largest increase was found in Utrecht, where the search queries ‘Jungliwin’ and ‘Jungliwin Casino’ increased by 850% in this calendar year.
Lalabet is more popular than legal providers
In Google Keyword Planner, Google itself gives an indication of the monthly searches from a country for specific terms. These statistics also show that online casinos without a license in the Netherlands generate a lot of search traffic. For example, an average of almost 700,000 searches are made monthly for Jungliwin (246,000) and Lalabet (450,000).
Qbet, which is illegally active in the Netherlands, is also the subject of an average of 74,000 searches in Google. At the end of November, this online casino was issued a penalty payment order by the Gaming Authority, but did not cease its activities in the Netherlands.
In the KVA study from 2023, an average of 27,000 searches were still made monthly for Qbet. This also showed a significant increase, but the percentage increase was much lower than for Jungliwin and Lalabet.
