Two tennis players have been barred by ITIA from the sport due to their involvement in corruption tied to a syndicate in Belgium.
Alejandro Mendoza Crespo has received the harshest punishment—a lifetime ban from tennis for 20 offenses. In contrast, Jorge Panta Herreros has been sidelined for three years due to four infractions.
The verdicts were delivered by Professor Richard McLaren, an independent anti-corruption hearing officer, following a formal hearing in early March. The suspensions, effective from April 4, were imposed alongside fines of $250,000 for Mendoza and $10,000 for Panta.
Both players are prohibited from participating, coaching, or even attending any events sanctioned by ITIA members, such as the ATP and WTA. The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA), established by tennis members, aims to uphold the integrity of professional tennis globally.
